Charging with alternating current (AC) saves battery power and extends battery life. It does take longer, though, so it’s best to connect your car to an AC charger overnight or while you’re at work. One major advantage is that you can charge at home using the ŠKODA iV Charger wallbox.

Fast and ultra-fast DC charging saves you time, but is not so good for your battery. You can use the powerful DC chargers at shopping centres and on motorways.

Before you set off on a long journey, charge your battery at home or in another place you have access to. If the total range shortens as you drive, stop off at a quick charger and briefly recharge the battery to the level needed to reach your destination. If you use quick chargers sensibly, you don’t have to worry about your battery life.

If you charge overnight, do the smart thing and start charging when the low tariff begins. Not only is AC charging better for your battery, but, most importantly, you’ll make a saving by using cheaper electricity.

Whether you use an AC charger or a DC quick charger, we recommend charging to 80% of the battery capacity. Only charge to 100% if you want to set off immediately after. If you’ve charged it to 100%, don’t leave your car standing for any length of time.

There’s no need for charging anxiety when you’re on the road, as the Powerpass service offers more than 1,700 charging stations across the Czech Republic and around 260,000 throughout Europe. Public chargers use a standard CCS2 adapter, so you can use this to reliably charge your ENYAQ iV. The MyŠKODA or Powerpass apps will help you to find the nearest station.

The Powerpass mobile app gives you full control over the charging process. Find a charging station, hook up your car to the charger, and the app will automatically stop the charging process when the battery reaches the selected capacity. You can keep an eye on the entire process in the app and see how much time is left until you’re done charging. In the meantime, you get to spend your free time doing whatever you want.
